What Makes you a Good poet:

Poets are the most sensitive persons. They are easily effected by the environment. Every person can be a poet but he/she should have deep love for his family and friends circle as well as towards mankind.
What makes me poet is my loneliness, there are many people in this world who are alone but not all of them are poets. It depends on the way that how they use their brain in order to get out of the darkness and loneliness. Poetry for me is the best way of expressing your feelings specially when you are unable to say it. It is not necessary that your writing should be great or flawless because there is always a flaw in our work.
You can start with same sound words like rain, pain, gain, main, lane, vane etc its the most simplest way, or you can write free verse without any defined ending, a sentence going on...

If you love some one then I think you can easily write few words for your loved ones or if you are inspired by any one then it can also make it easy for you to write. your hobby can be a topic for your poems or your friend can be one. There is much more then this. It is like a deep sea where you can enter and find your own jewels of topics.
